Side Story SSF-Cinema

The sun was starting to set as a police car drove into a dusty parking lot of a gas station. The lights flickered as it looked like the station hadn’t been maintained for a decade.

The police car opened and out stepped two officers who coughed as the wind blew dirt into their faces.

Police Officer 1: Damn it, I hate coming here.

Police Officer 2: *Cough cough cough*

To meet them as they blew past the slow little dust storm were a group of people leaning against the gas station. Their skin dry and tanned from the sun, silent as they stared at the Officers.

The police officers walked past them as they entered the station itself, the florescent lights blinding them temporarily. Clearing up as the station attendant looked right at them, also silent.

Police Officer 1: Good evening Kyle *Cough*, ever gonna clean up this place?

Kyle, the Station attendant put on the facade of a smile.

Kyle: Do you have a big enough broom to clean up this desert?

Police Officer 1: Funny. Real funny.

Kyle: What can I do for you officers?

Police Officer 2: We have a warrant for bringing in one of your tribesman for questioning.

Kyle: Straight to the point, who is it do you need to see?

Police Officer 1: Lanolin, she was seen at a crime scene recently.

The gas station attendant stood silent for a bit before putting on the facade again.

Kyle: Haven’t seen her since last week, is she a suspect?

Police Officer 1: Ye-

Police Officer 2 *Interrupting*: We just want to ask her a few questions.

Kyle: Just questions?

Police Officer 2: Yes, just questions.

The first police officer looks annoyed but doesn’t contradict his partner, adjusting his shirt collar as he tries to calm down. The gas station attendant is quick to notice the behavior.

Kyle: Her mother was here recently as of today. She was planning for Lanolin’s 16th birthday. They were going out of town to celebrate.

Police Officer 1: Not much here to celebrate with in your shitty territory anyway, makes sense.

The gas station is located in the Native Eaglelander territory of Dry Dry Desert, a small bit of land given hundreds of years ago so the Natives would stop complaining to the Eagleland Government. Home of just under a thousand Natives, the rest had long since intermingled with society.

The gas station attendant sensing the impasse, tries to make the officers leave.

Kyle: If I see her, I’ll be sure to let her know.

Police Officer 2: Do you know where she lives?

Police Officer 1: A teepee probably, heh heh.

Kyle: I’m not completely sure officers, there are lots of trailers here in our territory. It’s hard to remember who lives where.

The attendant remains stone faced as the officers try to glean if he’s lying. Unable to figure him out, the two officers whisper to each other and then readjust their uniforms.

Police Officer 2: We’ll be in touch.

Kyle: Come back any time.

The lights in the station flicker and for a moment it looked like the attendant had glowing red eyes to the first Officer. He rubbed his eyes and thought of it just remnant dust from outside. The officers leave and were silently stared at by the people from before.

Police Officer 2: Have a good night!

The people stayed silent, and followed the officers by their eyes as they got in their vehicle and drove off.

Later, the officers were being chased in their car by a looming shadow.

Police Officer 1: Station! We need backup! We’re being chased by an unknown entity!

The shadow chased them faster and faster, coming up on the brake lights and as soon as it covered them with it’s form, the lights bulbs burst.

Police Officer 1: Drive faster!

Police Officer 2: I’m trying!

The shadow slowly but inevitably loomed over the car and with bursts of electricity, shut down the car. The bulbs of the car bursting. All the officers could do was wait for the car to slow down before what they assumed was their demise.

As the car finally stopped rolling the officers could see the shadow even in the darkness roll around the car, like a quick snail leaving grime of emptiness. However, out of the road, the officers could see a figure. A figure of a girl.

Police Officer 2: Is that?

Police Officer 1: That’s that Lanolin Injun!

“WEN DA YO HO! WEN DA YO! WEN DA YO HO! WEN DA YO! WEN DA YO HO! WEN DA YO!”

The sounds of chanting started to surround the vehicle, everywhere the officers looked they saw on cliffs… red eyes, looking right at them.

“Henshin…”

A howl is heard as they heard more chanting.

“U-NE LA-NV I-U WE-TSI! I GA-GO YV-HE-I! TA-LI-NE DV-TSI-LU TSI-LI!”

Police Officer 1: What the hell is going on?!

“KAMEN RIDERRRRRRRR! WA! WA! WA-YA! AWOOOOOOOOOO!”

The officers looked back at the road and saw a menacing figure looming at them getting faster and faster, soon even running at them on all fours.

Police Officer 2: Ahhh!!!!

The figure leaped into the air, and somersaulted into a diving kick position before landing on the hood of the car. The shadow covering the car scurried away before the figure landed. The officers could finally see up close the figure even in the dark.

Police Officer 1: Shit, help me!

The figure was covered in fur, with large red eyes and a gaping maw where a mouth should have been. It’s sharp claws easily sliding through the windshield like a knife through butter. And it’s legs were thick and muscled, with long feet and a sharp tack-like underside.

The figure leaped off the car and jumped behind it as it chased the shadow. Grabbing it with ease in a bizarre visual, like a shadow that had a neck. With it’s other hand, the figure reached to it’s bicep and tapped a bone strapped to it.

“Honor the Prey! Use every bit!”

The figure’s arms started to glow and hum an unspeakable noise, it pierced the eardrums of the officers like a knife. Then with great strength, the figure tore the shadow apart, with black blood spilling everywhere.

The officers in a panic started trying to restart the car, and to their surprise it worked. The engine roared and the officers started to drive forward. But as they did, more shadows ahead started to loom at them

Police Officer 2: We’re not going to make it!

“Honor the Prey! Use every bit!”

Suddenly all around the officers were more figures that looked similar to the monster they saw before. They saw the figures run beside the 90 mph moving car as they clawed at the shadows trying to cover the car. All the officers could do was scream and drive as black blood spilled everywhere.

Police Officer 1: Fuck it! We’ll tell them she’s missing! Just please God, let us live!

Black blood spilled all over the car as the shadows were torn apart one by one by the many figures. Eventually the car made it across the border of the native territory and the officers sped away into the night.

The many monstrous figures stood together as they watched the officers leave, and with a howl they glowed and transformed into what they were. Dry and tanned skinned humans, people like you and me. But obviously different. They are people, they are monster, they are Kamen Rider Wa-Ya.

"WEN DA YO HO! WEN DA YO" means "I am of the Great Spirit, it is so. I am of the Great Spirit."
“U-NE LA-NV I-U WE-TSI! I GA-GO YV-HE-I! TA-LI-NE DV-TSI-LU TSI-LI!” means "God's Son paid for us, 'I'll come again'"
