*Over the next four years at their respective military academies, Summers and Tracy Galloway had very different career trajectories.
For Summers, life at the Eagleland Naval Academy was completely different from her life with the Galloways in Fourside. Cause for the first time since she was eight years old, she was once again alone in the world. Alone and very different from the other 1,200 newbie officers or "plebes". But that did not stop Summers from excelling in a variety of naval academics. This included deep sea diving and swimming, oceanography, and marine biology. In fact, Summers excelled in almost every area in and around the ocean. It almost like the ocean was calling her home. And she couldn't deny it anymore either. It was like she had, for the lack of a better explanation, "water on the brain", in more ways than one.
And after graduating Magna cum Laude from the Naval Academy, the military higher ups finally stuck some fancy alphabet soup at the front of Summers Galloway's name and called her a science officer of the Eagleland Navy.
This was followed up with nearly two years of service aboard some low rank science vessel in the middle of nowhere. It was not the ideal choice for Summers. Not at all. She wanted to serve aboard a submarine to see and explore the ocean depths. Like she always dreamed of doing since before even joining the Navy. But alas, they reject her application, sighting several complications. Complications? Not in the slightest. It was more like bullshit and politics. And this never sat well with Summers at all. In fact, in continued to nag at her over the next two years of service.
And so seven years later, Summers Galloway is now around 25 years old and a Lieutenant in the Eagleland Navy. She is now stationed at the Eagleland Naval Base on the Alola Islands and is between assignments, having finish her mandatory post-graduation assignment.
As Summers swims laps in the Olympic size pool at the Alola Naval Base, our story once again continues to unfold.....*
Aquatic Training Center - Alola Naval Base
*A slender figure now walks up the edge of the pool and watches Summers do laps back and forth for a few minutes. The figure then calls out to Summers with an almost forgotten, but familiar voice...*
Figure: SUMMERS! SUMMERS GALLOWAY!
*Summers now stops swimming and resurfaces in front of the figure. Summers now looks up to see a familiar face to go along with the voice. The startled Summers now smiles as she tells the figure ....*
Summers: TRACY?!
*Tracy Galloway just nods her head and tells her....*
Tracy: Yep, that's me. It's been a while, hasn't it?
Summers: Sure if you consider SEVEN YEARS awhile.
Tracy: Hey, that wasn't by choice.
Summers: I am sure it wasn't.
Tracy: It wasn't. But I was always sure our paths would cross again at some point. And here we are.
Summers: Yeah, here we are. So....
*Summers now gets out of the pool and begins dry off with her towel as she asks Tracy...*
Summers: Why are you here anyways, Tracy?
Tracy: Well let's just say, our paths are gonna cross alot more frequently from now on.
Summers: Really? Are you serious?
Tracy: I am always serious nowadays, you can't afford not to be in the military.
Summers: That is so true.
Women's Locker Room - Alola Naval Base
*Tracy now stands outside the women's locker room and continues to talk to Summers as she changes out of her swim gear.*
Tracy: So how is military life treating you anyways?
Summers: As good as it can. I imagine it's going just as well as it is for you.
Tracy: *mumbles softly* You would think so, wouldn't you.
*The story now flashes back to show Tracy Galloway's arrival at the Eagleland Air Force Academy. And even though Tracy knew she was born to fly, she struggled academically. She still made it through, just not near the top of her class like Summers.
Eventually Tracy Galloway did in fact become an ace pilot. And although she was considered be downright reckless at times, she was one of the best. It was through her flying skills alone that she earned the rank of Captain. But after a night mission that went horribly wrong, Tracy no longer has the nerves or stomach for combat flight. Instead, she now the top experimental test pilot. A career move that she finds much less stressful, but still just as fulfilling.
And it was through this career move, that Tracy and Summers once again cross paths seven year later.
We now flash back to the present after a few moments of silence. Summers now calls out to the silent Tracy....*
Summers: What was that?
Tracy: It's going great, Summers. Never better.
Summers: That's good. So it would be safe to assume that this unexpected visit is about my next assignment then?
Tracy: You would assume correct.
*Summers now exits the women's locker room and tells Tracy...*
Summers: Then what are we waiting for? Let's get on with it. I am dying to leave this place and not waste my career any longer.
Tracy: Let's get going then.
Center Exit - Alola Naval Base
*Both ladies now walk towards the exit of the Aquatic Training Center. Tracy now stops at the door and tells Summers...*
Tracy: Summers?
Summers: Yeah, Tracy?
Tracy: Before we go any further and I forget, I have something to give back to you.
Summers: Okay. What is it, Tracy?
*Tracy now reaches into her olive flight suit's pocket and tells Summers....*
Tracy: This.
*Tracy now pulls out the onyx pendant and hands it too Summers. Summers now stares at for a few moments. Summers now asks Tracy....*
Summers: My pendant? Where did you get this, Tracy?
Tracy: Where do think I got it?
*Summers now thinks for a moment and remembers her adopted mother Tessa. Tears now begin to well up in her eyes as she tells Tracy....*
Summers: Mom gave it to you, didn't she?
Tracy: Of course. She meant to give it back to you the day you left. But she forgot. So she gave it to me. And now...
Summers: And now you are giving it back to me?
Tracy: Yes, I am. I promised I would.
*Summers now puts the pendant back around her neck along with her dog tags. Summers now tells Tracy....*
Summers: Thank you, Tracy.
Tracy: No thank you, Summers.
*Both ladies now embrace in a hug. Tracy now tells Summers....*
Tracy: Ready to go now?
*Summers just nods her head in agreement and tells Tracy....*
Summers: Ready as I'll ever be.
Tracy: Well then move out, Lieutenant. On the double.
*Summers tells her with a comical tone....*
Summers: Aye aye, Captain!
*Summers now salutes Tracy, who shakes her head. She now tells Summers....*
Tracy: You will never change, Summers Galloway.
Summers: You got that right!
*Tracy opens the door and tells Summers....*
Tracy: After you then.
Summers: If you say so.
*Summers now exits the building as Tracy continues to watch her sister. Tracy now smiles and tells herself quietly....*
Tracy: At least, I kept my promise.
*Tracy now shakes her head and exits the building to catch up with her sister.*
Offline
*A HH-60 Pave Hawk CSAR helicopter flies over the ocean at top speed towards it's unknown destination, as Tracy Galloway pilots with her sister, Summers, sitting the back, looking worst for ware.*
HH-60 Pave Hawk - The Ocean
*Tracy glancing back at her sister, notices this and now says to her....*
Tracy: You are not looking so good, Summers.
*Summers now calmly tells her sister, fighting back the nausea...*
Summers: I'll...be fine....Tracy.
*Tracy just smirks slightly at her sister's response and tells her....*
Tracy: Still getting air sick, huh?
Summers: Just little.
Tracy: HA! Little, my ass. Even after these years in the military, you've still never gotten use to flying.
Summers: Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up.
Tracy: Hey, it's cool. Some people are just more natural on the ground than in the air. Me, I was....
Summers: Born to fly, I know.
Tracy: Damn right I was. And this here bird is my baby. So you have no worries, Summers. Just think happy thoughts and I'll get us to our destination safe and sound.
Summers: Our destination.....right.
*Summers now just lays back in her seat and begins to fall sleep trying not think about being in a helicopter, flying above the ocean. In fact, she began to dream about being in the ocean far away from her current location. It put her mind at ease once again, even if for a little while.
After some time passes, the hand of some unknown origin reaches out for her once again. A voice now calls out to her....*
Voice: Summers.
*Summers now instinctively reaches out for the hand as the voice calls out louder to her...*
Voice: Summers!
*Finally the voice of Tracy yelling Summers, forces her to wake up....*
Tracy: SUMMERS! WAKE UP!
*Summers now wakes up from her sleep and Tracy tells her...*
Tracy: FINALLY! I really hope you are ready?
Summers: Why is that, Tracy?
Tracy: Well, see for yourself. We're almost to there.
*Summers now looks out of the helicopter as she starts to prepare herself for it's arrival at their destination. That destination turns out to be a nuclear powered aircraft carrier. Summers now asks Tracy in amazement...*
Summers: Is that an aircraft carrier?
*Tracy just nods her head in confirmation as she tells her sister....*
Tracy: You got that right. And the first of an all new high tech nuclear powered class too. The ES Mike D. Haggar.
Summers: Well, holy shit.
Tracy: HA! Welcome to the big leagues, Summers.
*Summers just continues to stare at the awe inspiring sight before her, that is the ES Mike D. Haggar. As they approach closer and closer towards it, Tracy finally tells her....*
Tracy: Alright, enough staring. Prepare yourself, we are about to land.
*Summers just nods her head and tells her sister....*
Summers: Roger that.
*The helicopter now begins to make it's descent and land on at it's designated spot on the flight deck. Several other military personnel are already there waiting to greet them as they arrive. The helicopter now touches down on the ground with a typical touchdown. Tracy now tells Summers....*
Tracy: Smooth and easy.
Summers: Everytime?
Tracy: Yeah, sure. Everytime.
Summers: Huh?
Tracy: Forget it, it's nothing. Don't want to keep our onlookers waiting.
Summers: Right.
*Summers and Tracy now gathers their gear and exit the helicopter.*
The Flight Deck - ES Mike D. Haggar
*Both ladies now walk up to the gather of personnel on the flight deck. Tracy now stands at attention and salutes them all, as she tells them....*
Tracy: Captain Tracy Galloway, Eagleland Air Force, reporting for the duty.
*Before Summers even has time to introduce herself, a young man with blonde hair and glasses in a white overcoat, walks up and extends his hand towards her. He now tells her as Summers shakes his hand.....*
Man: And you must be Lieutenant Summers Galloway?
*The confused Summers just nods her head as she tells the man.....*
Summers: I am.
Man: Excellent.
*The man now begins to head off in another direction from the flight deck as Summers just looks on. The man now stops and tells her....*
Man: Well hurry up then, Miss Galloway, we are all eager to get started right away.
*Summers now picks her gear and looks over at her sister, Tracy. Tracy just gives her a slight shrug and mouths "Well go on then" to her. Summers just nods her head and rushes to catch up to the man.
After both Summers and the man leave, a buxom looking young lady with long blonde hair in naval khakis now greets Tracy....*
Lady: And you are with me, Captain.
*Tracy now extends her hand to towards the lady and asks her....*
Tracy: And you are?
*The lady ignores Tracy's extended hand and tells as she looks over the papers on her clipboard....*
Lady: Lieutenant Commander Helena Krieger
*Tracy now draws back her hand and tells the woman....*
Tracy: Right.
Helena Krieger: Now please follow me.
*Helena Krieger now begins to quickly walk off into another direction on the flight deck. She now tells Tracy, whom following slowly behind her.....*
Helena Krieger: We don't want to keep the Admiral waiting any longer.
*Tracy now stops for a moment and mouth "The Admiral?!" in shock. She quickly rushes to catch up to with LCMD Krieger.*
